AFL Goulburn Murray, in partnership with AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria, has launched their Regional Football & Netball Facilities Strategy this week at the Ballantyne Centre, Tatura. Developing the strategy and the framework is vital in responding to the region's challenges, opportunities, and aspirations towards 2034.
Football and Netball are integral to the social fabric of Goulburn Murray's regional towns and cities, and facilities play a critical role in supporting the community.
The strategy is a valuable document that identifies the region's facility priorities, which allows us to work with all levels of government, leagues, and clubs to achieve the best outcomes.
Regional Manager Shaun Connell thanked the affiliated leagues, Goulburn Murray Commission, and AFL Victoria for their support throughout the project. He added, "The Commission is excited that the Regional Football & Netball Facilities Strategy will provide the framework to identify a way forward for our infrastructure priorities."
The launch was supported by the presence of Head of AFL Victoria Greg Madigan, The Hon. Peter Walsh MP, Sam Birrell MP, Edward River CEO Gary Arnold, Netball Victoria Facilities Manager Laura Sharkey, and other distinguished guests.
AFL Goulburn Murray is firmly committed to supporting grant applications and facility developments. It encourages leagues and clubs to discuss grant rounds and future opportunities with their respective local governments or reach out to the Region Manager or Club Development Lead for further support.
