Despite a disjointed April, Community Spirit Shone Through
Although April was a disrupted month in many ways, our local football and netball clubs continued to shine.
ANZAC Day and the ANZAC Round celebrated at both elite and grassroots levels truly epitomise the strong sense of community, especially in regional Victoria.
I had the honour of attending the ANZAC Day ceremony at the Tatura Football Netball Club. Despite challenging weather conditions, a strong crowd gathered to witness the club’s first-ever senior game played under the new lights. A huge congratulations to Quinton Langlands, the TFNC Committee, and the Greater Shepparton Council for their vision and support in bringing this project to life.
How big was the buzz around Finley on Good Friday, with a massive crowd on hand to see Tom Hawkins return for an historic match against Deniliquin Rams, the Cats home by a close 15 points.
The great news continued this week with the announcement that the City of Greater Shepparton voted to support the appointment of a contractor to build a new pavilion at Princess Park. This decision is welcomed by AFLGM and AFL Victoria following the devastating floods 2 years ago. We look forward to the project being completed in late 2026.
Leagues were notified earlier this week that AFL Victoria have confirmed amendments to the AFL Victoria State Affiliate Regulations. These are now formally adopted and will apply to any club or team movements for the 2026 season. All resources are available at the AFL Victoria website at the following link: AFLVIC.COM.AU
