AFL Goulburn Murray (AFLGM) deeply values the important role each of our clubs plays in creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in our game, whether they are players, spectators, volunteers, officials, or staff.

While the majority of our community continues to demonstrate respect and integrity, we are increasingly concerned by recent instances of unacceptable and disrespectful behaviour directed at umpires, officials, and players in recent weeks.

We are calling on all Club Presidents and Committees to adopt a strong, zero-tolerance approach to inappropriate behaviour. It is vital that every club clearly communicates and enforces expected standards of conduct within their teams and wider club community.

We extend our thanks to the clubs that have already responded swiftly and responsibly to recent issues. Your leadership is essential to upholding the integrity and culture of our competition and ensuring a more positive matchday experience across the region. However, prevention is better than issue management!

The upcoming Spirit of Footy Round and Positive Coaching Sessions, being held across the region next week, are excellent opportunities for clubs to commit to building positive team and matchday environments. If your club fields underage teams in any of our competitions, it is expected that your coaches attend these free sessions.

The sessions are delivered by our training partner, SALT (Sport and Life Training).

We’re also excited to welcome the Carlton Football Club AFLW team to the region next week as part of the AFL Community Camp series. They’ll be visiting Echuca and Shepparton. Keep an eye on AFLGM social media and your club’s communications for event times and locations.

Lastly, a reminder to Senior Clubs that CCSP Compliance Checks are currently underway. Clubs can expect confirmation of their compliance status in the coming weeks.
