AFL Victoria recently recognised outstanding contributors to the grassroots game at the annual AFL Victoria Community Football Awards, held at IKON Park last Friday.
Australian Rules Football is driven by volunteers, coaches, umpires, and administrators who are the heartbeat of the local game. Tens of thousands of people in Victoria dedicate significant time and effort towards ensuring the success of their clubs and communities.
AFL Goulburn Murray was well-represented across the four award categories, with over 30 nominations received. The region had the highest number of winners from across the state, with five of the region's community football volunteers being recognised formally at the awards night.
AFL Goulburn Murray Region Manager Shaun Connell said, "It was a tremendous honor for Chairman Quentin Thomson and me to join the volunteers from the Goulburn Murray Region as they were recognised for their amazing contribution."
AFL Goulburn Murray Chairman Quentin Thomson added, "The number of nominations and winners from the region reflects the investment in club support from the joint funding partnership between the AFL Goulburn Murray Commission and AFL Victoria in supporting club volunteers, which is making a difference."
