AFL Goulburn Murray is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Sport and Life Training (SALT) as our Preferred Education Partner.
SALT is a not-for-profit mental health and wellbeing organisation that delivers high-quality education sessions to grassroots sports clubs. They aim to help build mentally resilient people with healthy values who positively influence their teams and their broader community. SALT’s courses cover many different topics such as mental health and wellbeing, leadership, healthy masculinity, female empowerment, equality and respectful relationships, positive parenting, and positive coaching.
Regional Manager, Shaun Connell, excited by the partnership, said, "SALT has already been working with several clubs across the region for many years, and this partnership aims to expand the awareness and benefit of the education and leadership programs offered by SALT.
This week, SALT is delivering three Positive Coaching sessions across Seymour, Shepparton, and Echuca as part of the upcoming Spirit of Footy round in the Goulburn Murray Junior League on June 12-14.
The Spirit of Footy Round is being delivered thanks to funding received from AFL Victoria for Coach Education. The Spirit of Footy Round aims to improve the environments and game-day experiences for all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators."
SALT's Scott Angove said, “SALT Sport and Life Training are privileged to partner with the AFLGM for the remainder of this season and into the 2025 season. This partnership will see SALT as the education partner and be available to clubs in areas around off-field culture and education.
SALT are excited to be supporting the AFLGM’s “Spirit of Footy Round” by engaging with junior coaches with the Positive Coaching sessions at Seymour, Shepparton, and Echuca this week.”
Club Development Lead, Sam Monaghan, said, "We see this as a crucial partnership in driving positive cultural change throughout our football netball community, but also in supporting our clubs, volunteers, players, and families through the challenges sport can present."
