Clubs and Leagues from across the Goulburn Murray region will Band Together this TAC Road Safety Round

Across the Goulburn Murray region this weekend, footballers and netballers will proudly wear blue armbands as part of the TAC Road Safety Round, helping raise awareness of road safety and remembering those who have lost their lives on Victorian roads.

Delivered in partnership between AFL Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), the annual initiative encourages players, officials, volunteers and supporters to reflect on the impact of road trauma and the simple actions that can help keep everyone safe on our roads.

This year’s campaign focuses on the dangers of speeding, which continues to be a major contributor to serious injuries and fatalities across Victoria.

Now in its eighth year, TAC Road Safety Round has become an important part of the community football and netball calendar, reaching more than 1,000 grassroots clubs across the state. Grassroots clubs can still earn up to $10,000 through the $700,000 Club Rewards Program, for being road safety leaders.

AFL Goulburn Murray encourages all clubs, players, volunteers and supporters to get behind the campaign this weekend and help spread the message that every life matters. While road trauma across Victoria has reduced compared to this time last year, every death on our roads is one too many, and there is still more work to do to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Together, our football and netball communities can continue to play a role in creating safer roads for all Victorians.
